Is This Right for You?
Telemedicine suits routine post-op check-ins where no physical wound examination or procedure — like suture or staple removal — is required. If you have signs of a possible complication, an in-person assessment is the safer route, and your doctor will arrange this for you.
When to skip telemedicine and seek immediate care Telemedicine is not suitable for emergencies. Call 995 or go to your nearest A&E immediately if you experience:
Heavy or worsening bleeding
Severe or rapidly worsening pain
High fever with chills
A wound with spreading redness, swelling, or discharge, or one that has opened
Chest pain, difficulty breathing, or calf swelling and pain
Fainting or severe dizziness

Frequently Asked Questions
Can my stitches or staples be removed via telemedicine?
No — this needs to be done in person. If you still have sutures or staples in place, we’ll arrange an in-clinic visit around the right time for removal.
What if my wound looks infected?
Book an in-person visit as soon as possible, or if you also have fever, spreading redness, or feel unwell, go to A&E. Signs of infection shouldn’t wait for a routine telemedicine slot.
How soon after surgery can I have a telemedicine consult?
This depends on your procedure and how your recovery is going — Dr Lim will advise you on timing before you’re discharged or at your last visit.
Can I really show my wound over video?
Yes, many patients do this comfortably with a phone camera and good lighting. If it’s hard to assess clearly on camera, we’ll simply ask you to come in.
Will I still need an in-person post-op visit at some point?
Usually yes — telemedicine works well for interim check-ins, but most recovery pathways still include at least one in-person review.
